Creative arts psychotherapy with children is a gentle approach that engages play, art, drama, and music to help children and young people explore and process their experiences, discover their own identities, and cultivate their well being in a playful and creative way.

For children

Children process their emotions by playing. They play out different scenarios from their past and develop a better understanding of themselves by trying out different responses and futures. combining traditional psychotherapy alongside drama therapy, I use stories and role play to discover different parts of ourselves, and art and music to bring them to life. Through this process, children discover more about themselves and their experience, while the I help them consider different outcomes and connections to develop healthy responses to adverse experiences and difficult emotions.

For young people

A creative psychotherapy approach can help teenagers and young people connect with their bodies at a time when they are going through many physical changes, questions about their identity and belonging. Working creatively can help form healthy cognitive pathways and coping mechanisms to address their often tumultuous emotional experiences, and stress. This can help cultivate emotional literacy, develop confidence, and cultivate resilience, giving them tools they can use for the rest of their lives.

About me

Hi, I’m Nardine Khalil.

Over the years, I have worked with children in various capacities. I’ve been a nanny, a support worker for children and young people with autism, and an ESL (English as a second language) teacher. I have also worked extensively as a therapist, both in primary and secondary schools and through charities. I work with children with various learning, developmental, and emotional needs.

Through my work, and my own experience of parenting, I have been honoured to be trusted as an adult in the wonderful world of children and young people. I enjoy learning from them again and again the importance of playing, connecting, and spending time with each-other. Every child and young person has an individual story, an individual process, and an individual identity, and that very thing is what makes them valuable to our families, community and the world.

I believe in empowering children and young people, by giving the space and time to explore who they are with undivided attention, in order to develop their own skills and techniques to build their resilience.

I am a trainee Child and Adolescent Psychodynamic Psychotherapist (BACP student member) and a registered Dramatherapist in the Health Care Professionals Council (HCPC). I am cleared to work with children through the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS).

My in-person therapy work is based in the London area.

Let’s get started.

Send me a note to schedule a free 30-minute consultation, book an assessment session and begin your customised individual or group therapy.
